“When you marry, you’ve gotten yourself into something that was invented by God. And if you determine to run your marriage your way, you’re in for a lot of trouble, because marriage is God’s institution.”
— Timothy Keller, “The Meaning of Marriage” (via biblicalfaith)

can you believe there are people out there who speak MULTIPLE languages and then APOLOGIZE for not having perfect grammar in their third or fourth language?????? like do you know how incredible you are???
Dogs are creatures we’ve spent the past 10,000 years genetically engineering to love us. No ethics committee ever approved of it.
People always say “there’s a lot of fish in the sea” but there’s also a lot of trash floating around out there too.
I’ve never really believed in the idea of love being fifty-fifty. Maybe it’s because I’m a sucker for those ‘I love you, I love you more’ arguments. Maybe it’s because I’ve shattered and put myself back together again enough times to know that not everyone follows that philosophy. Regardless, sometimes it doesn’t work. Sometimes, life hits a partner and runs. The vehicle isn’t always the same. Injuries that turn your bedroom into jail. A mental illness that makes the world your enemy, or makes your existence feel like shackles on everyone else’s ankles. A job that has your soul twisting in agony, and your body a slave to your boss. The results tend to roughly be the same, though. Damage. Pain. Having to wait for time to do its thing and tick by, hoping that at the end, there’s an alarm and not an explosion. Even without these things, fifty-fifty doesn’t always seem to be the case. I guess what I’m trying to say is to me, love should always be a healthy competition. Love should always be fueled by each person’s desire to love the other more.
